I did a shoot yesterday for my friend on the waterfront... It was bitterly cold so we were only out there for a few mins.

Hey! It's Otis Redding!
lol.gif

#3 is the only one that doesn't work for me. The others are great!

Thanks, I was wondering about 3, I was trying to do something I don't normally do :P

See, I was going to say #2 was the one that didn't work for me and actually like #3. He gets lost in the background imo.

Thanks :P I like 2 but I do see your point, he is a bit lost lol

I like 3 I do not like 2. I like the processing on them also. Shooting in the cold makes me try harder to make every shot count.

It was on the waterfront so the wind chill was ridiculous! I had leather gloves on and I couldn't feel my fingers about 10 mins into it. I was crying because of the wind too, oh and note to self, don't wear mascara to outside shoots....

Great shots. I like them all, except I'm not sure if 3 works for me either.

Thanks :)

1) I like it, but I would also have been interested in seeing it in landscape format. He clearly seems to be looking out at something, the landscape format would have enhanced this feeling.
2) I like the composition of him, the walkway, and the sky, but I agree that it's too busy directly behind him.
3) I go back and forth, but overall I think I like the unorthodox beheading. Personally I might crop a bit more from the left, so that the guitar is evenly centered in the frame rather than having extra "dead" space to the left.
4&5) Solid, though I go back and forth on whether I like him looking out of the frame in #4 rather than looking into it.

Thanks for the feed back!

These were taken at Halifax harbor and there was a big ship with train cargo on it, HUGE eye sore... I would have loved to get more of the ocean and harbor in the background, I'll have to re-shoot next time I'm there :)
I'll try cropping 3 a bit tighter.

Some good C&C. Studio7Four echoes most of my feelings. Except on 3--I'm not fond of the unorthodox beheading.

:)

Lol I have one of him not beheaded, here you go! (I would have preferred him not looking out of frame.)

I wouldn't say he's looking out of frame. I'd say he's looking at his left hand/guitar.

I think these are great, though #3 did stop me. It was like oops, could not get both guitar and head,so...
I really like the color of #1. I cannot find a distracting background even in the # 3. I thought maybe too much sky in #2, but I think it does add to the depth of the photo and also it somehow brings out the cold. (I wonder if that is because you said it was cold...I don't know)
In the last photo, crop out the lighthouse, I do not think it adds anything and draws my eye away from the main subject.
