Your lights? My light?

Hey guys i'm back for another round.

Alright so i have an SB600, I want to get a light stand for it and possibly an umbrella, then I need wireless triggers but I am having issues finding the right ones. My light would be that, and would I need anything else besides that? I don't think I do.

- SB600
- light stand
- umbrella/softbox/shoot bare?
- wireless trigger.

You'll want/need a universal adapter to mount the flash on the stand, preferably one that will also hold your umbrella.

Keep in mind the SB-600 does not have a sync terminal. You may need a hotshoe adapter with port and a cable also. FlashZebra.com is a good source for those.

What kind of shots will you be using it for?

I've been using my SB600 with a shoot-through umbrella, which I find works pretty well for most of what I do. The advantage of using it as a shoot-through is that I can get the umbrella closer to the subject so I don't have to use as much power on the flash.

The disadvantage to doing it that way is that some of the light is still reflected back in to the room, away from the subject, which means it's a little less controlled than using it as a reflector with the black cover on it. For the best control I think a softbox is the way to go (it's next on my list).

Instead of starting a new thread i'm bumping his one. Okay so the above that was posted is out of my budget, yeah i'm cheap but whatever. I was wondering if this is a good alternative. I have an SB600, what do i need for a light kit? everything from trigger, to umbrella, to holder to whatever. Remember, i'm cheap.

Would this be a start?

Exact one I got .. stand seems good, mount bracket is a bit on cheap side but works and the umbrella is ...umm, well .... an umbrella haha

Hahah you bought this set? Would you recommend it for starters?
Thing is I got pre paid visa's for xmas, a $50.00 and a $35.00 spend 6 from the 35 so I got a 29 and a 50. trying to get an umbrella set up and trigger.
