on the dial on my camera there is a number 125 in red...isnt this the number
for the speed for a normal photo?what do u set the aperture on?which num
-ber?thanks.

That is likely the max sync speed...the fastest shutter speed you can use with flash.

What does the owner's manual say about it?
 
The 125 is a shutter speed setting, and Big Mike hit on why its probably in red. In regard to your question about apeture. Ss and Ap work together with film speed {ISO}and it all depends on what type of light you are shooting in, your subject matter and what you're trying to acheive in the photo where your Ap etc is set. Grab a copy of "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson and that will explain the how and why for Ss, Ap and ISO.
