Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I have just recently gotten into photography and don't know what kind of camera to get. I have a lot of friends that skateboard and would like to start taking some good quality pictures of them. I am working with a budget of $1000 or less

I think Chrisburke on here does a good amount of skateboarder photography. He could probably give you some pointers.

I suggest you not buy anything until you have held your short list in your hands. Go to a local shop and play around with them, navigate the menus and get a feel for which body has the ergonomics you like. Buy or borrow a memory card and take some photos. They all can take good photos and they can all take crappy ones.

I shoot Nikon, so this is my recommendation.

Nikon D80 w/ 18-135mm lens (B&H kitted) - $808
Nikon SB-600 Flash - $185

Total = $993

I added the flash since you want to do skatebord shots and probably at dusk. The flash will freeze the action and reduce motion blur.

Canon 20D - $400ish
70-200 f/4L - $500ish
18-55 kit lens - < $100
Peleng 8mm fisheye - $250

$1250. A little over budget, but a really good starter.

Your best bet is to not look at entry level cameras and look at used gear. It can be had for so much cheaper and you can get a camera with more features than an entry level for a lot cheaper.
