Camera Advice

Hey everyone, I'm hoping to pick up a new camera sometime around January, so I was wondering if you could give me some opinions.

Right now, I've got a 4 MP Fuji, but I'm looking to upgrade to something with at least a couple more MP's and a 10 or 12x zoom.

I'm not quite ready to go DSLR yet, although my dad has a Rebel XTi that takes absolutely phenomenal pictures.

I was thinking Powershot S3, FZ7, DSC-H2, etc. I'd of course like to have as many MP's as possible, but would spending hundreds more on a 7 or 8 MP model really give me noticeably better image quality?

the sony H series are good cameras. hte h2 also has add on lenses you can purchase seperately to give you more flexibilty with your shots. ive owned the h1 and h5. all great cameras.
