Canon G10 lens closes when Canon's Remote Capture software connects to camera

Does anyone know why Remote Capture software closes the lens cover when it connects to the G10? I want to view the picture on my PC before I take it but when I click the connect to the camera button the lens closes. I anyone can help, I would REALLY appreicate it.

Could it be the communication mode the camera is set to? Not sure about that camera specifically, but on some there are a few settings you have to change to shoot tethered.
