Capture One is Comparable to ... ?

Is this product more of an answer to Lightroom or Photoshop? Is there a distinct advantage. I know my company uses it in the photo department (I am in IT)

Capture One Pro is PIEware. PIE = Parameteric Image Editor - Image database manager software.
LR and Aperture are also PIEware.

Unlike LR, Capture One Pro can open more than 1 catalog at a time and can be shared at the same time by multiple users.

Photoshop CC, Elements, GIMP, Photoscape, et al, are raster graphics editors.
Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor.
