D700 coming soon...what's the most important thing to know?

The most important thing to know is...... where you put the manual and be willing to read it.

My manual is on my iPhone. Easy to find and read.

Good for you, I am a D7000 user and always hope to get D700:)

Any DX lenses you have will only use the central 5.2 MP of the image sensor, unless you read in the user's manual how to turn off the auto DX lens detect feature.

This. Very important!

Errr... While I haven't researched this lately, what you say doesn't seem to make any sense. Even if it did cover "more" you are still going to be cropping the rounded edges. That means a lot of loss.

Do you have a link to demonstrate your argument?

On a dx zoom, its not uncommon to have it cover the entire frame through much of its focal range.
