Any DX lenses you have will only use the central 5.2 MP of the image sensor, unless you read in the user's manual how to turn off the auto DX lens detect feature.

I suggest purchasing this book. I have the one on the D7000 and have no regrets. And I'm guessing this one is just as informative.

Errr... While I haven't researched this lately, what you say doesn't seem to make any sense. Even if it did cover "more" you are still going to be cropping the rounded edges. That means a lot of loss.

Do you have a link to demonstrate your argument?

On a dx zoom, its not uncommon to have it cover the entire frame through much of its focal range.
