flash for eos 1000D (Quality VS Price)

Hi guys,

I might be in the searching for a flash real soon form my Rebel XS. I do not know that much about equipment and I would like to get a little info before being told stuff by hungry and or incompetant salespeople in the stores.

I do not know anyone that knows cameras well to come with me...

best quality price ratio would be what ..


What questions do I need to ask... What do I need to avoid.

Can I go 3rd party and have equivalent quality for less...

My first suggestion would be the Canon 430EX.

As you can see, it's A LOT cheaper to order it from B&H than to buy it in Canada...even after conversion and shipping.

You can get 3rd party flash units that 'should' work fine with your camera. They will be less expensive, but they probably don't have the overall quality of the Canon units.
