I got a new lens!

Hey everyone my names Grayson and I'm 16, for my birthday(which was yesterday) I got this lens for my camera([ame]http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/richmedia/images/cover.gif[/ame]) it's a Sony 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Compact Super Telephoto Zoom Lens, I now have this lens and a 18-70mm lens. With a camera base that is an Sony alpha 200, is this new lens I got a good one? And what types of shots will I be able to get with it?

Well congrats on a nice present. The best way to see what you can get out of it is to use it. Not trying to be smart about it but, it is a fact. Also try varying the f-stop to see where the lens is at its sharpest.
