Am interested in Lightroom but would like to ask. Is getting the Lightroom 4 app for my Mac as good as getting it from Adobe?

Your still getting it from adobe. You don't get a disc and they can't guarantee that you will get upgrade pricing for versions that come out in the future. So your probably better off not buying it through the app store if you ever plan to upgrade.
