New to SLR Photography

I finally took the plunge and decided that I wanted to get into SLR Photography. I purchased a Nikon D60 with the 18-55mm lens. Now, I just need to figure out how to get all the benefits of manual settings. I guess it all takes time.

I look forward to reading the tips from all those on this forum.

Time, some reading and a practice...I suggest Undrstanding Exposure by Brian Peterson & The Digital Photography Books 1,2 & 3 by Scott Kelby. Welcome to the Forums.
