Night aerial help

I'm very new to photography and I am going to have the opportunity to take some night photos from a friends private plane. I'd really like to take some really nice pictures but don't really know where to begin. I have the canon xsi with the kit lens as well as a 75-300mm telephoto lens. Any advice on how I should go about this would be greatly appreciated. My best guess is that I should be taking wide angle city shots to get the apature open as much as possible. Cranking the iso up and getting the shutter speed somewhere around 1/60th of a second or faster to get rid of the planes vibration as well as stopping blurr from the movement. I really want to make the most of this opportunity so any and all advice would be great.

I've shot from a helicopter over NYC at night. I didn't have much luck even with the iso cranked up to 3200. An airplane might vibrate a little less than a helicopter though so good luck.
