pocket wizard questions

Ive been interested in something that will fire my flashes (sb-600 and 800) wirelessly. I know I can do it with setting off the on camera flash, but i don't want it to. Ive seen the pocket wizard in magazines, will that do it?

Yes, PWs are the most reliable way to fire a flash off camera. Since your flashes have a pc port, the cable which is supplied with the Pocket Wizard will plug right into this port and you are good to go. If you are considering PWs, look at the Plus II transceiver.

There are alternatives such as Elinchrom skyports:

which are cheaper than PWs but also offer less range.

You might also consider Gadget Infinity radio triggers:

Ultra cheap, not always 100% reliable, and a lot less range.

I was looking at the plus II, on B&H it says I need 2, why is that?

I have the Cactus V2 trigger and love them. Very very cheap and i havent had one problem with them

One is the transmitter attached to the camera and the other is the receiver attached to the strobe.
