setting up packages and prices

I know It's hard to tell some one how much they should charge for their
services but I was wondering what is a good way to get competitive.

what is a good way to find out the competitions pricing and what are
good packages. I will be doing portraits and commercial with my partner.

I honestly am not worried about charging more than the other local
"photographers" I just want packages that sell whth out a sticker shock.

call them and ask them what their prices are. They're trying to sell stuff...they need to tell their "customers" their prices.

Sideburns is right...you can just call them up and ask them. Many photographers have their prices and packages right on their web sites, so that would make it easy for you.
