speedlight light stand mount

Warning! Possible useful information alert!

The first link is actually an umbrella adater.

OK. I'm done.

Do you have one of those? If not you can get a 43" Wescott collasible for $20. They're fun tools.

Do I need an umbrella adapter with a hotshoe? Now I am confused again!

It is an umbrella adapter, but can also be used to hold your flash..

This versatile adapter lets you conveniently mount a shoe-based flash and a photographic umbrella to a light stand or tripod.

You didn't mention which speedlight you own. If it is a Canon speedlight you need that and a way of triggering them. If you own a Nikon speedlight..all you need is the adapter and you have the ability of triggering them with Commander Mode.

not everyone has camera stores available to them. If you get agro over an umbrella adapter (thanks for the info David), what wont you get agro over?

You're welcome :)

Its a canon 430ex I believe. it can slave trigger when it sees light, no?

I don't believe the 430EX has an optical trigger..only IR which can be triggered by Canons ST-E2. You will need another way of triggering your flash.
