What did you do with Photoshop?

I started with PS Elements 2, tinkered and learned some things. Then got PS 6.0 and more trial and error (mostly error). Recently upgraded to PS CS3 and got a free month membership at lynda.com. Tons of good video tutorials on PS there and learned a lot of better ways to do stuff I was already doing and also learned stuff I never knew was possible.

Still mostly do a lot of trial and error though till I get what I'm after.

On the job training; watching over the shoulder of people who were much better than me; tutorials that came on the Photoshop installer CDs; trial and error; necessity (being the mother of invention).

hmmm I remember I was in 6th grade and my brother bought me adobe photoshop 5.0
Made me laugh here. In 6th grade, I remember sitting around a computer in school being amazed when we drew a smiley face on a computer with a resolution of probably 10 pixels by 12 pixels :D

Didn't even have room to draw the head of the smiley face. just a single pixel for each eye and the nose and probably 7 pixels for the mouth....

PS for me is largely self taught by trial and error. When I'd hit a roadblock with trying to do something I would look online for a tutorial. I've also read a couple books by Rick Sammon that helped greatly with the basics.

as a tween i took alot of week long courses involving Photoshop. and once i finished all of them i got offered to teach the courses and learned more as i did that. read some books and experimented to see what certain things do.

I found that the same concepts I'd been using in my darkroom worked pretty much as well or better in Photoshop. The info at the links below helped me understand the technical differences between the traditional darkroom and digital processing, and helped me make the switch. I've also found books by Tom Ang, Lee Varis, and Bruce Fraser helpful.

It is like riding a bike: The more you do it, the better you get, the more you notice and learn, and the faster and smoother you eventually ride.

LOL, I can hardly walk to my bed due to the huge quantity of Digital Photo, Practical Photography, Photoshop User, Layers, and various other photo and image related magazines and books littering the floor.

Drives my poor wife bonkers.
