$Cracks tonemapped final comp.webp
6 shot exsposure. 1000 year old rock formation that was about to be destroyed at the Construction Project I work at, managed to get a few snaps the day before the bulldozers arrived.

It looks like you got good light on the interesting formation. Not sure though if HDR was needed because it's important to see the shadows.

I'm not sure I understand the end of your comment, FB.

Being in the Middle East and being some where in the middle day meant taking a single exposure meant I was loosing a lot of detail. I hadn't bought my nd grads yet so was only really left with a HDR exposure.

It's important not to expand the dynamic range too much in a photo like this if you would want to create mood and drama with the fissures and textures.

Choosing the right light is equally important, of course. If there is too much dynamic range it might be best to wait for overcast conditions, if possible, to snap the photo.

Thanks every one for the comments. FanBoy unfortunately I only had very very limited time to take the shot as the dozers were coming in to the area. But I do still have the RAW files so may try and re-work the tone mapping as well as white balance to try and get rid of some of the dynamic range nad make things a little more dramatic . . . watch this space.
