18-200 VR nikkor or 55-200 VR nikkor

I'm considering this 2 lens as i'm going to get a new one. I got a 18-55 nikkor. Which one of the lens that you guys recommend, the 18-200 VR nikkor lens or the 55-200 nikkor lens?

I have both.

If I were you I would get the 55-200 VR, it is a nice, light, sharp little lens, and $400 cheaper than the other... it and your current lens will give you the same range.

If you later decide to upgrade to "better" lenses, the pro series, you won't have much money invested in consumer lenses.

Also the 55-200 is sharper over the range it covers at all f-stops.

Yeah, if you go with the 18-200, you're really paying for the convenience of that focal range, rather than superior optical quality (of which it does not have relative to the 55-200). I'd go with the 55-200 if you're okay with switching lenses to get the 18-55 range.
