1st post - Yosemite 08 - c&c appreciated

Shot these on my recent trip earlier this year to Yosemite. Let me know what you think. Aloha!

How do u even get there in the winter time?

I think #1 would be better if there wasn't so much blown out sky.

I think that a little contrast boost would help out the last two a lot.

Not too sure how to keep the sky from looking blown out when it's completely covered with clouds.

Given the conditions, I like the second photo the best. To answer your question from my opinion/experience only, I shoot to fill my frame with subject, (which is why I liked #2) as the sky blends in otherwise and doesn't add to the image. Happily, Yosemite has a lot of opportunities for this (I love shooting there in winter too)

I love all of them, this is one of the rare situations where I like the blown out sky, it adds to the starkness of the photo and gives good contrast with the dirty detailed ground... great shots!

A red filter would help the sky. It would darken it and provide the contrast you need.
