1st time in the studio

Had a chance to go for a 3 hr session in a local studio for £20 and thought I would be a fool not to give it a go. Brilliant experience

This lighting on the first three (black background) are a miss. The strong side light isn't working here.

The white BG are the strongest, but the flat/even lighting is very boring.

the gray background shot, again, VERY flat, no interest at all.

Thats better, what do you expect for £20 lol. In all honesty, i only started photography about 4 weeks ago so I was pretty happy with these. The grey background is actually white but the light meter was showing f16 as the softboxes were very close to the model, also had a hair on my lens

Given your limited experience, I would say these are very good. As Braineack mentioned, there are some areas where the lighting could be improved, but you're off to a good start.

With the black background your subjects hair is being lost - fades into the background
This is where a hairlight is needed to keep separation of the head/hair and the background.
FYI .. been there .. done that same thing ...
