Just outta curiosity, why the weird framing in the first? The second is much better, but i agree that the hair seems a little too 'flat'

The first was actually framed like the second before PP. She just became a consultant for one of those businesses that women throw parties with, similar to Avon or Mary Kay. She mentioned using one of these pictures with some text on the side. So, I stretched it out and appeased her.

I think they are good too. Did you dodge under the eyes in PP? If so, I think it could be blended better, if not, then maybe try blending it better.. Id also dodge the dark spots under the eyes. But thats just me, and I'm having a lot of fun with my dodge and burn tools right now... lol

I completely took "flat" the wrong way. I was thinking in terms of body. That is what she kept complaining about. I wanted to have a hair/rim light but I was out of strobes. How did you manage that?

No, I didn't dodge any under her eyes. I might could blend it with a patch selection but I have found that too much dodging on the skin can really start to mess with the skin tones, especially the burn tool. Best if used in extreme moderation.

You're right, you should try to get the look in the studio, but that was done by:
-duplicating the layer
- screening
- masking for the hair only
- a very small amount of sharpening
- clone out harsh highlights

Very good sir, I duplicated your look. I didn't add any sharpening though. I think it definitely added to the photo.

DONT FOLLOW the basic LIGHTING RULES TRY one FLASH over the head slighlty in front of the face and the other Behind YOU over your shoulder facing your SUBJECT

THINK outside the box! ! BREAK RULES, experiment and Wives are great test subjects! ! ! ! !

Not a big fan of flat lighting. From traditional view, side of the body closer to the camera should be in shadows thus slimming it. Here wasn't the case thus... you get the idea.

Before even reading this i thought to myself "these would look great if she was using them on cards/business related" So to me you did a Good Job! I recognized the concept before even knowing.
