It took me a while to realize that was a mailbox in the first photo. Even after that, the first photo is missing something... can't explain it but basically it needs a stronger point of interest.

The second one makes me think of an old picture/painting from the turn of the century (the last one not 2000). It seems nice but again I just feel it needs something to make it more interesting.

Just MHO, though.

They seem a little flat. I can see that you're trying to make something out of 'em, but they aren't quite making the leap. I'd give some tips, but I'm a beginner too. Keep at it, I feel like you're getting somewhere.

the first one took me a while until i realized there was something in the ground and even then, i didn't know what it was, only able to vaguely make out the text.

the second is VERY bland.. and the bit of tree on the right doesn't help
