Thanks for looking and enjoyed them as much as I did

DAMN!

How close were you?

I was on my back porch. Lightning from what I could tell was striking less than 3 miles away with the old "1-1000-2-1000-" rule of thumb guide.

Lightning is cool. Water drops on the window are distracting though. :(

That's not a window. That's droplets on the filter.

Dang!! I hope that system isn't moving into East TN--I have had ENOuGH of the wicked storms to last the rest of my life!
We had one of those brew up last week here, while I was out with some visiting family at a local lakeside restaurant--sitting out on the patio! It was awesome to watch the lightning come rolling in like that...but then the storm hit the restaurant. We ended up inside to finish our meal, shivering because I was soaking wet, and seriously wondering if my car was going to end up floating from the parking lot down to the lake before the storm ended.
My sister was smart enough to run out to her car and get her camera when the first lightning strikes hit, so she got a few decent shots. I didn't bother to go get mine, although it was in my trunk--but they would have been hand-held anyway, so there didn't really seem to be any point in it.

These are very...well, *striking*!

I went to law school in Houston and my younger brother is a practicing attorney in Houston right now. He tells me the flooding is amazing and scary...

Is downtown underwater? What about Memorial Drive?

From memory, there is a section of I-10 not far outside of downtown that floods BADLY. The water gets like 30 or 40 feet deep.

Stay safe!

Bryson, from what I've heard there are a lot of local streets flooding. There's suppose to be a multi-billion dollar multi-year project to help flood controls in Harris County but it's not properly funded. Basically downtown floods a lot. I haven't been out of my house the past two days. It's been raining so much.

Yup. That's why there's the filter on this particular lens. I'd rather the water gather on the filter element than the front element. I don't really care about the pros and cons. I've read tons of discussions on them and I still don't care.
