28 peice filter sets on ebay

Does anyone have any knowledge of what these filters are like? The sellers reviews are good but thats written the day they recieve the item

I have a whole drawer full of different filters that I almost never use. They are neat and they're something that everyone just starting out with a DSLR wants to have to play with, but it's not something you'll use a whole lot-if ever later on.

Having a GOOD circular polarizer, neutral density and UV filter are more than handy. I also like to have skylight filters for the fall. Otherwise? Special effect filters are a mixed bag-they are fun and create some great effects. And when a client asks "do you have the image without ____" You get to say "nope." I apply MOST things in post because of that. AND when you are shooting you aren't going to think "Hey! THAT filter would be amazing..." dig in your bag, find it, put it on and then shoot again... It just doesn't happen.
If they are cheap? They are fun and probably pretty worth playing with. If not? Your money can be better utilized elsewhere.

Dont. We are in the digital days and all those stupid filters can be done on post processing. There are only a few filters you need. Certainly not 28! You will find out what you need later. For now, dont worry about it and start shooting!

Not that they are stupid, but most things these days with digital are done pp. The exception will be CPL and ND filters and perhaps a graduated ND filter.

I would opt for spending the money on memory cards.

You left out ND's and grad ND's. These are a critical part of my kit.

The size is also small, you want like 78mm or something for your biggest lens then you can put adapters so they fit all lenses.

From the "Show full item description." Close ups can be useful if you don't have a macro lens, the nd is useful, the stars can be fun but. The colors (red, green, yellow, orange and blue) are for B&W film, the fd is for daylight-balanced color film. A linear polarizer only works on some AF systems. I agree that most are pretty useless, and they are generic/no-name brand so I'd question the quality of even the useful ones. Save your money for a decent circular polarizer.

Cheers for all the info people, i will be buying for a Nikon D3100 so i need 52mm filters, i will read about the filters more on what was recommended

No... the size of the filter depends on the lens, not the camera

If you do decide to buy filters, DON'T buy junk like that. A good ND, G-ND or coloured filter from a reputable manufacturer (Heliopan, Rodenstock, B+W, Singh-Ray, Lee) will cost you at least twice the cost of that whole kit on it's own, a CPOL as much as ten times. You get what you pay for, and putting a cheap, off-shore piece of junk on the end of your lens is NOT going to do anything to enhance your photographs.

I kinda thought that tirediron and schwettylens i forgot to write my lens is a 52mm so thats what im looking at
