3 for C&C

Tyler I also have the 55-200 kit lens.

I'm assuming you're using a tripod with the shutter speeds being so low? The 18-55 opens up to 3.5 I believe at 18mm and to 4.5 at 55 I think. Whenever I use my 18-55 for portraits I'm usually at 55 and wide open. I don't know what mode you're shooting in, but I would go to A and make the aperture wide open and shoot from there. f13 is way to closed for portraits. If you want it a little sharper stop it up to around 6 but you'll lose some of blur people love in portraits.'

Edit: Since you have the 55-200 I would use it for portraits. Keep the aperture as low as you can or stopped up little from wide open and shoot from further away zoomed in. I shoot portraits a lot of the time at around 165mm with that lens. This isn't a keeper picture or anything, but it's the first shot I found that I shot with the 55-200. It's shot at 165mm F5.3

Thanks Blake I will have to try that!

I'm not much of a photographer yet, but I have been a guitar player for my entire adult life. You might not have much control over this, but this type of old-timey shot would work much better with
1. a more traditional style of case (i.e. not a plastic clamshell)
2. perhaps an older or more beat-up guitar. This guitar seems too shiny in some of the shots. That could be the lighting, though.

Finally, don't take shots with both the case AND the guitar, unless he's putting it in or pulling it out. Guitars go in cases, or they don't. No one carries a guitar and a case separately. It looks kinda ridiculous. A better option for the left hand would have been some sort of luggage- a smallish carpetbag or something. This gives the impression that there is no case, which is more of what you're going for, I think.

Thanks for the advice J

I think they would be more powerful if the subject where placed off to one side of the tracks. also tell him to pull his pants up sag is out. The 3rd is the best.

I agree with this... what a great concept for marketing a musician though. I love the train tracks - very good idea! :D
