3 new beach/people photos

I like the second one. It would be better if the building wasn't in the shot. Nice series.

I wish I lived close to a beach.

I live on the east cost. About 20 minutes west of the beach. It's nice, but nothing can beat a west coast sunset!

How about the east coast sun rise ?

Pretty good for just one evening!!! #2 is good--the lines lead right to the couple, and their placement in the frame is very powerful. There's a slight bit of visual tension in #2, which would change somewhat if the picture were re-cropped differently. It's fine the way it is, but I think the "vibe" would change with differing crops. The building in the URC helps.

The first shot, surfer, is like an exercise on line of gaze. I looked at all three on Flickr in largest size.

The last, of the dad and son, might be deemed to be the weakest at first, casual glance, and yet, it might just hold more than is apparent at first glance. The third photo deals in wonderful "depth planes": first off, the trodden sand; then the smooth wave-washed narrrow strip of beach that separates Man from The Sea, and then the somewhat rough January seas of the Atlantic...the father figure, big and strong, towers over the boy, and his body overlaps the both the strip between the land and the sea, and the horizon, and the pier points to the open ocean...long symbolic for "the unknown". The tiny boy grasps his father's outstretched hand, so small in comparison to his daddy. In some ways, this shot is allegorical. If one is willing to look and imagine a bit.

Thanks! I guess my "communication" was successful! What you "read" about my photo was very much on point to what I was trying to get across! I mean it's almost like you read my mind! Especially him outstretching his little hand in comparison to his father!

Honestly just my personal opinion, western sunsets are much grander then an eastern sunrise. Just me though!

For me I'm a night owl. I love the beach at night. So a sunset is just great because it's sort of a countdown until nighttime!

I like the first one but I don't care for the overall blue cast. I realize it's an evening or early morning shot and the blue may have been what you were going for. I Took the liberty of correcting the color. If you don't care for it that's fine to because honestly I'm not sure whether I do or not. I left it kind of dark and moody though.

I actually like the tint change, just not the darkness added.

A lot of people are not big on the blue tint. Thats just whats on the east coast where we are. Very blue and purple.
