$320 good price for Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC?

The seller bought it a few years back, mint condition. I'm buying this in person, the ad caught my eye on Craigslist. If you know of any cons to it that I may not be aware feel free to share. I will particularly be shooting this for landscape, candid, stars, and portraits. Afterwards I may as well buy a good flash

For an extra $150 you could buy it new. Try to haggle them down to $280-300 and then it would be decent or at least throw in some extra goodies like filters or something.

Where are you finding that new? I've got about $550 AFTER mail in rebate. The NON VC version is about $450
I think it's a great deal!

If the lens is in good working condition, grab it while you still can for $320. It won't last long. (Assuming it is the VC version)

No need to think. If you don't like it, chances are you can sell it back for what you pay for. (or sell it for more than what you pay for.)

I gave it all I got man, he won't budge. He said failed selling it for $380 and went down to $320. I'm meeting him thursday and I'm going to test the hell out of it. I've considered the USM/HSM/whatever versions but for the price and my intended use it's just a big blow of money. f/2.8 is fast anyways, oh and no more backing up in small dark room for me with my 50mm! Yaaaayyy!!! But let's not celebrate too early haha

Thanks! I was saving for a telephoto but I could not pass this up! I hope it holds it's resell value well, if I were to turn around and sell it for $375 I'm sure it'd sell...but I'm not because I was planning on getting a great fast wide angle zoom in the future anyways. I'm praying that it's in the condition in which he's stated it is, he's more of a portrait and car photographer so he has no use of it after he got the primes he wanted. Seems legit to me

I'm actually not that upset that it's only for EF-S mounts because my next camera is the 7D and it has better noise performance

There are many many older tamron pieces that are total crap. There are also several slightly older tamron pieces that are really great quality and there are some newer things that are really pretty outstanding quality.
This one falls into one of the great to better than great quality tamron lenses.

From what I've read, it's extremely better price wise. I've never tried Canon's but I assume it is on par with it. If I walk away with it in my hands tomorrow, I'll be posting some images next week that I'll take with it in Oceanside CA and perhaps a video if that goes smoothly. If anyone is in the area HMU and we'll shoot around. I'm really excited hehe
