First People section post for C&C. The photos were shot manual at 1/200, f/3.5, ISO 200, 50mm. The flash was manual and set at 1/64 power with a DIY bounce on the speedlite. It is still brown scenery around here and the only green was out by front sidewalk.

Edited in ACR. Any tips on processing, shooting, or posing welcome. She did pose herself and she is a bit of a ham. Thanks for looking.

She is adorable. The number 2 image is my favorite. Her pose shows that she is confident in herself. You should be so proud of her.

If she doesn't look ghostly white on your monitor, you need calibration badly.

Here is the histogram for only her face; exposure much too bright
If the light is lowered a bit, it is clear that the texture is blasted out of the skin and there are blanched spots on the top of her nose and cheeks.
Less direct light is needed

Thanks JW & Lew for mentioning the too bright. I did think about asking in my original post, but didn't want to taint the critique. To get the fill flash lower should I lower the ISO and possibly use the speedlight off camera? For this photo it was on the hotshoe and at 1/64.

I lowered the exposure and changed the white, highlights, & shifted the blacks slightly in ACR. Three edits with the original at the far left.

You can lower the ISO to lower the exposure of the entire image, not just her face. But more importantly, you hit the nail on the head and that is to get the speedlight off camera and use something to diffuse the light such as a soft box or umbrellas, etc.

I looked at a few soft boxes and are they hard to keep on the speedlite? The one I thought about getting was $29. Can't find it now.
