Hi,

I've been interested in Macro photos since I got into photography and I just realized it says macro on my lens. It's says MACRO 1.5ft, how do I go about setting up a macro shot? I have it on my tripod overlooking a quarter on a white background but can't seem to get close and stay sharp. My aperture is 22, ISO 100, Shutter 250.

I have the same camera, and this lens is just the Kit lens that came with it. While it says Macro 1.5ft, it does not mean that it is a macro lens. It just tells you the closest focusing distance, (in this case, 1.5 feet).True macro is 1:1 scale with the subject, or larger, such as 2:1 or so. So with this lens its able to do closeup shots, but not true macro.

These lenses have the label macro slapped on them because it looks good.
It's a selling trick by the manufacturers, when it comes to real macro work you'll always need to make sure a lens is really a true macro lens.
