7mo old Christening shot

I just found this community and wanted to go ahead and kick off my first post by posting a shot I took at my sister in-laws daughters christening. This was taken with my Nikon D3200 with 55-200 f/4-5.6 lens.

Let me know what you think, if there are any improvements I could make, ect..

I like the feel of the image and how it is framed but have you manually 'blurred' everything but the child in post? I feel there is too much blur... Her eyes are over edited in my opinion too. It's cute.

I think Sarah pretty much nailed the key points. One suggestion for future work is get down to the subject's eye level; whether it's Mom, Dad, child, infant, or the family hamster, portraits are almost always better if your lens is at or near the eye level of the subject.

Zoomed to 200 mm and using f/5.6 the DoF could in fact be that shallow if the camera was 20 - 25 feet from the child.

I don't agree that the eyes have been over processed, but think the child's face, arms, and hands should be edited to add definition/sharpness that doesn't make the sharpened eyes stand out so much.
The lens make/model used is not all that sharp even at a mid-range aperture value like f/5.6.

I think the composition, the light quality and the light direction were good.

I wonder what shooting mode and metering mode was used to make the photo. I use the Chrome browser and have yet to find an EXIF reader plug-in I like.

Put some time into this photo, had to do some editing in photoshop to remove a hand holding the baby's head, I found I could not get the back wall pattern right, so decided to blur the background a bit further than produced by camera. The rest was obv. edited with lightroom.
