Just ordered the Nikon 85MM 1.4 :D, now the waiting started. I hope to get it early next week. The longest weekend of my life. I was wondering if people can post some quality work from this piece of glass.

SHARP! but pricey:(

congrats!

I've heard that it's an incredible lens. Grats.

I wonder if it's like the Sigma 85 1.4 which I've read is competing against the $2000 canon 85 1.2L

It's actually said to be better and sharper than both, with very little CA (the sigma has some CA issues).

Nikon makes some killer lenses, the 85 f/1.4 and the 14-24mm both come to mind as being exceptional with no real equals.

Rez, I wouldn't doubt that at all. For some reason the images from Nikons come out sharper SOOC. I've noticed that too. But I've managed to fix it via DPP

Yowza, that must be a nice lens you got there. I looked it up and I could buy a new Martin D-18 for the same price. Nice job.

It is awesome, I have used it quite a few times.

The AF-D model has lovely bokeh...from what I have seen of the G-series, its bokeh can at times appear rather harsh. Some of the very earliest samples Nikon put out were yanked almost immediately after people complained about the background rendering characteristics the new 85-G produced.
