A couple for C&C

I understand you are nervous and all but is there something specific you don't like and would want some advice on? The members will respond much more gently and with helpful insights if you ask about specific issues.

I suppose right now I'd like some advice on the way the pictures are taken--are they from a good angle, could the framing use work? I realize the first one is probably a bit over-edited (was just playing with the idea of cross-processing), but I actually do really like the second one, and was wondering if it has a good editing, or if the editing takes away from the photograph itself?

I think given the bright sun you were dealing with you always needed to lighten up the other areas. I like the nice soft effect you created.

The second one is better because you got down on her level. The first one is taken with you looking down at her. In children's portraits it always works better when you get down to their level. I think from a composition point of view that would be my criticism of the first 1. You needed to come down to her level like you did in 2.

Don't forget to put her eyes on the Rule of Thirds otherwise you won't advance to level 2!!

The editing looks bad in my opinion. ( IF its even the editing, could be the original shot had problems ) but first one has a greenish colorcast and the second has a more yellowish/green colorcast. They also look overexposed to me and could use some contrast adjustment. I would avoid cutting off her hands on the edge of the frame and not always centering your subject.

Get low when photographing toddlers. The lower the better in some cases.

Or stated another way, photos usually look better if you shoot from the same, or lower, perspective that your subject has.

Sport shooters get lower than their subjects perspective, because it makes the players look bigger and more powerful.
