Just working on my B&W's, wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me. Too much contrast?? I did this in NX2, but I have photoshop as well, if I have to use it. Just prefer NX2. ;)

and so help me if it's not sharp...if it's not, I'm done with photobucket and heading to smugmug!

I don't understand why you would shoot a sunrise in B&W? The whole idea is about colors.

I didn't shoot it in B&W, I have color as well (and it's a very pretty shot) but was just messing around. :)

It looks like it is a nice shot, could we see the color version ?

Actually, I would say too little contrast; there's no pure white in the image that I can find at all. Don't forget when shooting snow, that you almost always need to adjust your exposure. Since the camera's meter is desinged to see everything as middle grey, it turns snow grey (as it has done here). I would try a 2 - 2 1/2 stop over-exposure next time and work from there.

Sure, here is the color...

BTW, what's funny is that there is NO snow! This was just frost on the ground, you can see it in the color version better....

Now that's better ! It sure does look like snow though.

Thanks! I guess I just messed with it b/c it seems a little boring to me. Maybe I'm just being picky, but the whole valley was sort of glowing from the sun coming up on the frost, and I don't seem to be able to bring that out in PP (and clearly didn't catch it correctly from the get-go then!)

A little more PP and I'm liking it a bit more...

It's nice but there's a big ol tree in the way

Hmmm, I have a few shots without the tree, but I thought they were boring, so I moved over a bit and purposely put the tree in there.
