A few birdhouses for c&c

here's a few birdhouses i shot out in the backyard.

the hardest problem i had was getting a shot without a horrible background.

i changed one to b&w and one to Sepia because the houses were so faded, the colors looked bad. imo they looked better void of actual color.

I like the dof in #2.
#1 is decent but bordering a bit soft
#3 composition is uninteresting and least favorite of the bunch

what do you mean by bordering is soft?

did i crop too close?

i completely agree on 3. every angle i tried to shoot from just had a horrible background. and it sits about 6 foot high, so i had to look up at it. i THOUGHT that would perhaps make it interesting.. i was wrong.. it's worse in color :lol:

1. You found some interesting aspects. I like the green mossy stuff, it changes up the blah of the wood. The shadows on the birdhouse also give you a little something extra to look at but overall this is not that exciting of a shot.

2. I believe this is the best of the 3. I like the composition, but I might of put the feeder more in the left side of the shot. The feeder seems to be angled towards the right, so it would feel more comfortable w/ a little extra space on that side.

3. Sorry, this is the weakest of the 3 for me. It feels like you just wanted to document someone's painting on a feeder.

Nice job although the 1st and 3rd seem a little bright or blown out. Did you do any post editing? If not, you might be able to save them that way. Keep up the good work.

thanks guys. i'm working on it.

in #2 i couldn't put the feeder on the left, because it's hanging from a 4x4 that is literally right next to it. that's why i had so much trouble getting a shot without a horrible background. these are all hanging from a 4x4 mount.. like you would have for a clothesline or swingset.
