Here are a few shots of some mallards I took this morning.

The light was a bit low as I was trying out my 70-200 f4 plus 1.4x TC, so was actually shooting at f5.6. Some were shot on a monopod....something else I am trying to learn.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance :D

I like that you are really trying to get low down angles on the birds (even if in some cases you simple can't - without getting very very wet)
hmm you appear to be getting quite a lot of glare on the whites and reflective areas of the mallards - that first is fine, but the others in the direct light are suffering a little = you could try fixing this by selective reduction in brightness on the shots or by shooting in RAW mode and then lowing the exposure a little.
After that these shots seem a tiny bit soft yet I think the originals were sharper - do you apply any sharpening (unsharpen mask) after you resize for the web? If not then I would suggest you do as it can restor some lost sharpness in a shot
the only final point I can make is that in similar conditions you might try underexposing a little more - if you look at the last show the female in the shadow of the male is not suffering from the glare that the male is.

Nice shots but I think you can get better results with a little more practise

Thanks overread!

I will try your idea of underexposing a bit.

TO be honest the shots didn't seem that blown out when I was editting them.

I don't think I resharpened after the resize. I will try that as well.

Cheers
