Let me know what you think, please! :D

These were my first attempt at rockin' my Canon Rebel XS on full manual mode. Shot with either my 18-55mm or my 50mm f/1.8 II.

I don't really have any CC, but #1 has to be a composite...

C&C:
1. I like this image; its an interesting take on a worn out shot. So good job with the originality.
2. OK shot, i'd crop out the land in the bottom right. I like the color of the sky and the silhouette is nice, its just missing the "pop."
3. I like the similarities between the mirror and reality. Overall its a bit boring though, and seems a little soft.
4. Awesome colors in the sky, but I cant tell what the silhouette is.
5. Another beautiful sky. I'd crop the bottom third though as it really just detracts from the image. If you did crop it, the shot would have a nice panorama feel. Probably my favorite of the set.

Hope this helps a bit, keep shooting! :)

The only post editing I did for that one was a simple gaussian blur of the back landscape (the tree and tree branches) and a few minor things -- played with curves, bumped vibrance a tad, etc. The picture started out as my friend and myself attempting to take pictures of each other in one anothers lenses ... Then I saw the mountains in the background and the lightbulb in my head went off! I have the SOOC if you don't believe me ... :p

Thanks! The second one, I liked it a tad better with the land in the picture; it helped give the picture a sense of direction?

Number 4 is actually my boot! I was laying down on a mountain peak. :)

Oh, and FWIW, the 5th picture is SOOC!

Thanks again!

How did you not get her reflection in your lens? I guess what's throwing me off is that for you to have a dead on shot of yourself holding your camera and for the lens to have the reflection of the mountains, there would have to be a reflection of the person who took the picture... Just not adding up to me....

Sarah, the OP took a picture of her friend, and focused on the reflection in her friends lens..

I understand that! But how is this a straight on picture without a reflection of the picture taker in the lens too???

Maybe I should just shut up and go back to giving up :) LOL

Yes, exactly. I was standing off-center in front of my friend. My friend had her camera pointed at the mountains, while I stood in front of her, but not exactly in front of her. I was standing far enough off-center that I wasn't in her lens reflection.

I wasn't exactly in front of her. I was squatting down a tad, and standing to (my) right a little. Trust me, it was a very small area to work with, so it wasn't all that hard to NOT get myself in her reflection. I kept yelling at her because she'd move .5 inches and the mountains/flag would disappear from the reflection, lol.

Hahahahaha...yeah that would be a tough shoot. Any minuscule movement by her and you're screwed.

Did you every get the 2 self portraits in the lenses?

Here is my SOOC, if that helps you to believe me ...

You can tell I wasn't standing dead-center in front of her; look at the cropping/leveling out I had to do in post processing. All I did (editing wise) was blurred out the background, leveled it, and did some other minor things. :)

Ha, nope! We got a few, maybe four or five, and then I was caught up in capturing the mountain in her lens, and then we rushed inside to see what the pictures looked like.

Poor fragile Sarah is going through a rough spot with photography. Don't worry Sarah, you will have that epiphany and climb up the next rung of the learning ladder.

I'm just feeling compelled to let the world know that all 4 of my likes that I have, have been from the same person...

Bitter Jeweler :)

I'm honored to know that such an awesome person likes me :) LOL
