A few pictures with new camera C&C please

Hi, I just bought my new camera (Canon EOS 1000D) on Monday and here are some pictures. C&C please.

Looks like you got some motion blur or camera shake going on in the first two images.

The image of the rose is the best of the three...looks like you cropped it. I like the DOF but wish the two buds on the sides weren't there.

What do you think about the composition of the first two?

Do you think, the second picture would look better with a larger DOF? With a DOF calculator I found, that the DOF is only about a few mm on that one. (I took it with a tele on 300mm, F6.3, and the subject distance was about 2 m).

The buds seemed interesting to me, when shooting the picture, but you are right. it would probably look better without them. And yes, the picture is cropped a little on the right side (about 10%, to remove the negative space).
