Can others edit my Photos

Thought I would pop up a few of my 'better' shots for a little C&C.
They still have that feeling of holiday snaps, so I'm looking on hints to help improve the quality during my last few days here, if possible.

Generally been using my 18-55 kit lens (which i've only just noticed has a chip on the lens, hence the visible blur on camera left in some shots) Have my 35mm 1.8 and 55-300mm with me also.

So without rambling on too much more see images below, there are others in the photostream at my Flickr account...

Hey its the city where I was born....

I am probably not the best to C&C pictures but I can give it a shot specially since I know the city very well.

1. I cant see your camera settings but for some reason it looks washed out and it is not a very interesting picture as there are distracting elements (wagon, tree). Also I'm not sure when those pictures were taken but your sky looks white/gray in all pictures which is extremely odd. If the sky is gray I normally bracket a few pictures and turn them into a HDR picture to get a more dramatic look.

2. I like the picture but I would have taken it from the middle of of the path and closer to the ground.

3. Casa Poporului or Place of the Parliament is the worlds 1st biggest and heaviest structure in the world (although I thought the White House would beat it). Your picture does not resemble this at all not to mention it looks like it was taken from a car as the angle is weird and from a side; again the sky is washed out and the picture looks overexposed and it lacks contrast. This building should look very majestic as its large and on a hefty hill; it also looks a little distorted (nothing photoshop will not fix). Also cropping the sky out might help a little (was it a foggy day?)

4. Its a cool picture but it needs to be a little sharper and also a crop would help alot in this case. My gut feeling says you can accomplish this by playing in Photoshop. Angle is a little odd here but still works if you crop out the lamp post and trees above as they don't really compliment the shot.

5. Lacks contrast and the trees make it a little uninteresting. I would try to use the DOF on the lens and blur out the background building and trees.

6. I like this shot but again it needs to be sharper and I am not sure if its my work monitors but it lacks color as well as it seems to have a little distortion.

I would suggest to play with the pictures in Photoshop and see what you can get. In many instances they can be cropped in order to take out distracting elements or the gray sky.

I will have a look @this post when I get home as I do feel my work monitors are not the best for graphics.

Thanks for the response Ginu.

It's been generally overcast, while ive been here. Good for my skin not peeling off, but not so good for the photos.

Will be uploading more from today, later.

Wow its really sad to see what happens to a city where there is money pumped into maintenance... really sad. I grew up in one of the buildings in front of the Place of the Parliament Building. All those fountains used to be on every weekend, regardless of the weather and it was something to see; now it looks like its all falling apart...

I will be in Bucharest for a week in the summer also and I will take some pictures.

Finally I looked at your photos on my home PC and I have to say the colors are pretty dead on and I enjoyed your album. I think you should work a little more on the framing pictures and using the right angles. Cropping is also something you should consider specially when the sky is so gray and has no interesting elements; just cut it out and make wide pictures instead. Also some of the pictures suffer distortion as they were taken at the wide end of the lens.
