A few photos from Charm Park Point-to-Point - last one in the area and whilst I've been to a few recently I feel so utterly rusty at taking photos. Solo horses are fine but darn when there's a whole group at the jump its a pain (even with the superfast modern AF). Still managed to get a few good keepers!!

Thanks Jeff :)

Nice set! Lots of people and excitement. It's fun, but I agree that makes it more challenging to get good shots.

These jumpers are always so intense!

Very sharp shots well done

Yeah I agree, its just finding that perfect angle and framing to capture that intensity of the jump, esp when there's a whole swarm going over at once.
Honestly I think I've been so impressed with the AF of the R6MII that I've been trying to push it a little too hard and capture one by one (or at least the lead) going over and its just a little too much. Dialling back to the old-school "prefocus on the jump; estimate where the pack is going to hit and use a narrower aperture" might well be the best approach. Then just burst-shot and see what lands as they come over.

Will there be many more races in your area? Is Charm Park open most of the year? Always looks like such fun events.

I'm a horse lover, but always rode Western style. No dressage or jumps for me! 🐎 Trail riding.

It's the last reachable Point-to-point event of the season from what I can gather. They tend to move further south now.

As for other events honestly I need to find a local horsey group and connect with them to find out what else is going on around. I certainly want to get to some showjumping outside of big showgrounds (sadly the local show was cancelled this year, but the region show is still going ahead and that's pretty big).

Good luck with this! It shouldn't be too hard to find one, but one reasonably in your area might be trickier.

Best way to keep those photo skills sharp. ;)
