Great avatar :)

#1: Wayyyy too busy IMO. I'd have tried to find a spot on the side at the river bank and try to shoot a snow covered branch and shoot it with f5.6 (preferably lower) to emphasize your subject while throwing the background out of focus.

If you have to shoot the scene the way you did, I'd have used a ND filter that gives you a much longer exposure time so the water would turn into cotton candy. That would make the image a bit more interesting.

#2: Maybe it would be "more interesting" in BW. Nothing super exciting.

#3: This could have been much more punchy if you had used bracketing and made a HDR out of it. If you still have the RAW file give it a try. Curious what would come out of it.

Wonderful photos. It just snowed today in my area for the 2nd time but the first time for the season that it has actually stayed for over 2 hours. I took 2 pics today of it.

#1... Subject? Nothing catches the eye.

#2.. nice lines.. and constrasts. I would try it in B&W.. to monochromatic to be interesting as it. Make it contrasty....

#3.. sky isn't bad.. could use a bit more contrast and color... foreground is too dark and way too blue. Would have been a good candidate for HDR..... try masking and bring up the brightness on the foreground, and color correct it.. blue snow isn't attractive.

#3 is missing most of the detail in the foreground... but I did what I could.... let me know what you think...

I like it....good job. These were quick shots I took while at work. Did not have time to think about the shots before I took them. Thanks for the comments and advice.

So do that landscape shot again.. three shots, and bracket 1stop between shots.... do some HDR. It could be a nice shot with good detail in the foreground.

too dark - winter'll do that to the cam's exposure sensing

lol! I guess you didn't bother to read the whole thread. Even in winter, you can still get good exposures easily. It it the strong backlighting that is killing this shot.. not the winter....
