a few wedding shots. a beach affair.

ugh. first off, i hate the beach. just beaches in general. i hate them. the sand, the water, the sun...blech.
the bride and groom wanted some beach pictures taken after the ceremony, at noon, and we only had 15 minutes before we had to leave so they didn't run over the time limit for the limo. it was a race to get as few squinty and sweaty faces as possible before the whole wedding party had to cram back in the limo to go to the restaurant where the reception was being held. (Manny212 can attest to the mayhem) 5 minutes in and they were all already sunburned...(most were partially sunburned from the day before) another 5 minutes later, the skies darkened up and threatened to pour on us.
did i mention i hate the beach?

overall it was fun, but i really hate being rushed. They did NOT want to get charged extra for limo overtime though...so rushed it was. it was a 20 minute drive TO the beach, another 20 minutes FROM the beach, and the limos air conditioning went out on the way there.
it was NOT a happy wedding party in that limo. I was not overly pleased with the bland skies, but it was what it was.
the two dress shots from the bride getting ready were obviously not taken at the beach. I just thought they were neat pictures

Part of being a good wedding photographer is to give them a reality check. Tell them that they should probably rather have 40 minutes more shooting time than having 40 minutes burned from driving to and from the beach. More time = more money shots. If they do not listen and they do not like the photos, at least you have reasons to defend yourself.

Overall I think they are too yellow. I also think the water does not look that great. I would have shot from a lower angle so the water isnt as defined.

I can attest to everything Jason has just explained . He did forget to mention that on the way to the beach the limo driver i think got lost for about 1/2 an hour !

holy cow, these look totally different on the IPS monitor.
I think it is time to replace my 10 year old LCD monitor.
guess im doing some online shopping tomorrow.
i will have to redo these on the other computer tomorrow and repost.

It Was a cluster ... Explained all that pretty much as you mentioned above thin it went in one ear out the other lol And once I saw we were racing rain storm tried to talk them in to an alternate location but NOOOO Bride insisted on beach photos. Oh and by the way never really hit the beach with nice sand and ocean view. What you see is is one of the small beachy, fishing areas off the causeway to Sanibel Island. When she said beach pictures I actually thought she meant BEACH. Was not impressed with her choice of locations but it is what it is. Then literally 5 minutes no kidding they are ready to head to the reception. All the fuss of wanting to go to that particular spot then fussing to leave. I think I must have spent as much time corralling and and directing as shooting. the entire day was complete chaos. OH to show you how bad it was I had to find the bride and Groom to remind them they wanted formal pictures taken. They completely forgot about the posed shots. They seem pretty happy with what was taken so disaster averted.

Yeah water does look less than its best but that was how it looked with the weather that day. When you say shot at a lower angle is that so we see less water in the background?

Basically the lower you are, the more the water reflects the color of the sky.

so..a quick edit this morning on the other computer.
my processing skills arent as good as the wife's yet, but i can definitely see the difference.
looking into replacing my old monitor with a newer IPS monitor now.
more money i have to spend.

It never ends. Everything I've made on photography so far goes back into my equipment fund.

Skintones in 2 and 5 don't seem to match and I'd like to have seen them squinting less. I'd like to see a symmetrical shot of 4 as well, not saying it would be better but something I think makes it off balance. Not a bad job though considering the constraints you were under
