From net info I expected I could drive the 2 miles up Bear Lake Road to Bear Lake Trail. However it turned out I had to hike instead because the road was closed. I got to the trail and traveled perhaps a half mile when I nearly stepped on this character:

The foliage was nearly knee high however I managed to get this photo which shows that it has about 8 or 9 rattles:

It soon assumed the full threat posture:

I was then able to get this video:

Look close and you can see it's tail shaking the rattles. Notice how the rattling increases each time I move.
