A new camera? Decisions, decisions...

I've been pursuing photography for quite a while now, and my parents agreed to buy me a new camera for Christmas. I'm looking for something within the $200-300 range. I was thinking about the Canon PowerShot SX-510, but I thought I'd ask the community in case anyone knows of a better camera for the same price. Also, I prefer Canon. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with the SX150. Personally is try to go for one though that went down to f2.8 (or lower) on the wide end. I think that one only goes to f3.5. But, that's my personal preferences sneaking in...
