My backyard drops off into a ravine. When I bought this place in a new development 20 years ago the ravine was nothing but dirt, some large trees scattered with a creek running though it but no green. But they started naturalising it right away. Today its a lush, green ravine and connected to a whole series of ravines so you can walk for hours. You get everything from marsh like areas to wooded areas.
I am amazed at all the new wildlife that keeps appearing every year just in my section alone and its one of the youngest areas.
So it was a nice surprise to see a Night-heron for the first time here. And when I found him I accidentally surprised and scared away a GBH.

1. Didn't get the best position on him the lighting kinda suck.

2. This is an area in the ravine where a lot of ducks hang out. Most of them that day were relaxing in the shade of trees along the bank.

Brent, your photography skills seem to be doing just fine, maybe it's time you work on your ninja skills, so you may glide along undetected. ;)

Nice batch. :encouragement:

Very nice.

Always good to have nice close areas to explore. Makes it easier to learn their habits to anticipate shooting locations.

It is nice to see that the GTA respects wants to enhance our greenspace ... awesome backyard!!

They have done a great job in Brampton with their green space. I have still yet to explore all the areas.

I really appreciate the simplicity and the beauty of the white-breasted nuthatch shot.
