A Thin Line Between Stupidy and Bravery

Some friends and I went up to a local reservoir on Sunday, and this is what happened.



The photo is still a work in progress so to speak...I want to cover up the stitch lines and all that. Still though...I liked the action enough that I felt like posting it. I'm not sure just how high that fall actually is...but it was enough time to get eight frames from jump to impact.

This is a cool idea. Here is some food for thought the next time. Get a vantage point where you can shoot wide enough to get the entire jump from start to finish, set your camera up on a tripod, and hold down the shutter button in continuous drive mode. That way, you won't have to stitch pictures, you can just layer them in for a full and complete image without black areas.

Hopefully you will get another shot at this.

yep, agreed...good points. I feel like it's a work in progress myself. I have a bunch of others from smaller cliffs that I think I got in one frame, I might give them a shot when I get some time. This was a difficult place to shoot, as everywhere you went was cliff faces. Even getting to the spot to shoot was a short climb. I wanted to do this one first as my friend was the only one brave enough to jump from that height. I'd say it was easily 45-50 feet.

This is a great idea for how to shoot this, but..."Next time???!!?" IF someone managed to ply me with enough mind-altering substances so as to convince me that jumping off this precipice was a perfectly reasonable idea, I assure you there would BE no NEXT time!!

I'm just being humorous here, and I realize that there ARE people who would do this willingly, more than once. Those people are certifiable.

Nice graphic illustration that v= vo+at. Have you tried Using Microsoft ICE? It's free, and it usually does a pretty good job of blending exposures.

I'm going to have to check that out then, Barbarian. Particularly with the few hours of my life I lost in photoshop with this one. I think it was worth it, but I'll let ya'll be the judge:
