A visit to NYC and a pilgrimage

If you have never been to B&H, you really have to go just to see more photo equipment in one room than anywhere other than PhotoKina.
I was there on a 'quiet' Monday so there weren't any more crowds then, say, at your local supermarket on the day before a snow storm. I had 3 or 4 minutes in line so I had the time (and the space) to look around.
That's the way you see a salesman (actually they don't sell, just advise and write up); you wait in line and a sign tells you what station is open for you.
There are 60 (count'em folks) spots at the digital slr counter for interaction with a salesman plus 4 or islands for specific smaller brands, each with 2-4 salespeople, plus, film canera area + large camera area + used & refurb. Then there is lighting, printers. monitors, etc. There are at least 4 complete rows of tripod legs and head and another dozen rows of camera bags and carrying accessories.
There are 20 cashier's stations, 5 or 6 for cash alone then the rest for CC and check.

It is hard to estimate just how much they sell in any day. The waiting room outside the exit was full of people, unpacking stuff to go out and shoot then.

I've been a couple of times but both of the others were on a Sunday when it is packed like Fenway Park at a Red Sox/Yankees game.
So I had time to walk around and space to see things.
It is truly a revelation to see the variety of things and actually handle them - and surely an incentive to visit NYC.

Praying usually starts about a block away but, according to New York law, you cannot traverse public sidewalks on your knees.
Genuflection isn't mandatory but common.

I was going to say it must be uncomfortable to walk around amidst visibly aroused photographers.
