A winter hike

Nice shots. I like the light in the first shot, but I'm always a sucker for the "fresh field of snow" look -- if you can get there first and get the shot w/o footprints, it's even better. You might also take a shot at straightening the horizon a bit. #2 also has some nice elements - maybe a slightly better composition than #1 with the horizon placed on that 1/3 line.

What a beautiful area!! I hope it wasn't too cold. ;) All I would suggest here is to continue to work on your exposures, because you have two images with loud, glaring hot spots. The top image in particular has a large hot spot right in the center of your image. The second image is better, as the hot spot is off to one side, but it is still a bit overpowering. It looks like you have a gorgeous area to hike around in, so keep shooting! :)

Thanks for the suggestions. All good tips/observations. Anyway to minimize the blownout sky for next time?
