What's new

Abandoned House

Just to be difficult ... ;)

I have a problem with the polaroid in 6 looking too new. Makes the photo look contived.
Not saying it is, just saying that is what I think when I look at it.
That being said, it's my fav of the bunch.

I would also desaturate your colors some. The vivid colors - the blue sky in particular - competes with the subject.
A subjective opinion.

This looks like a cool location for a night shoot.

Remember, it doesnt cost anything to shoot Digital ... so just go for it.

Us Film shooters tend to be more conservative.
Very true!
I like #6 a lot, but I might crop some on the right. #5 I think would have been better from a different angle, looking more into the corner on the left than straight at that wall. This would have made the strip of sunlight diagonal.
Thanks Ken, great suggestions to take with me next time around. I think I will revisit this place sooner than later :)

Never hesitate to be difficult! Even if I don't agree (which I do) it makes me think and that is a good thing.
I had the same thought about the polaroid, I was hoping that the faded writing/date would compensate enough for it. I suspect another visitor may have wiped the picture clean but can't say for sure.

I'm on the fence about the saturation. I look at pictures of abandoned places a lot and most are washed out snapshots, which is fine for documenting. I like having saturated colours to juxtapose against the ruin these places are in. First glance doesn't tell the tale. I can tend to have a bit of a heavy hand with the saturation and will keep your thoughts in mind :)
