about buying a new- used lens...

I found a guy on Craigslist selling the Nikon 50mm 1.8 for $95. He said that he bought it a couple of months ago and really hasn't used it much. I am thinking about meeting to see the lens, but what all should I look for when buying a used lens? And do you think $95 is reasonable? Or should I hold out for the 50mm 1.4? Any opinions are appreciated...

The 1.8 is way less expensive than the 1.4. So, get the 1.8 now and when you are ready to get the 1.4 sell the 1.8 to someone else and get most of your money back that you paid for the 1.8.
